The I/O485 line of boards is a data acquisition and control system that can connect a computer to 32 remote stations using a single cable in a multidrop configuration. The full duplex link is also widely known as a "4 wire link" (which in actuality requires 5 wires since all the signals are referenced to ground). An optional additional line is used, in our system, to carry power.. The I/O485 provides a low cost multidrop solution to a wide range process control problems. The I/O-485 boards can be connected to the computer using our RS232-RS485 converter or a third party RS232/RS485 converter. Controlling the I/O485 is equally simple and requires no on-chip programming. All functions can be called by means of simple ASCII commands. Popular programs such as PROCOMM® or Windows Terminal® can be used to execute controls or debug complex functions before writing the final application software.
