Description:
The
SPORT232-ST is a Data Acquisition Control and One Axis Stepping
Motor Ready Board. With eight analog independent channels for different
voltage range, the SPORT232-SP is ready to connect to sensors such
as thermocouples, pH probes, photo cells, strain gauges, and piezoelectric
sensors for data acquisition applications. In addition, to the Data
Acquisition capabilities 4 channels feature low off-set
signal conditioning which allows connection to almost any analog
device without having to undergo the time and expense of developing
an amplifier for the external device.
The SPORT232-ST also offers
8 digitals I/O that are TTL compatible. Each line can source/sink
up to 5mA.
The SPORT232-ST has been
implemented with one industrial PC driven stepper motor axis controlled,
on board by the RMV856-ETX Controller. Acceleration and deceleration
modes are supported. A velocity-profiling feature is also available
for complex motion parameters. Inputs for external control such
as abort, limit and home allow easy interfacing with mechanical
system. Analog and digital inputs give the user a variety of options
for sensor reading and actuator control. Networking through the
RS232 port gives the system the ability to control up to 16 stepper
motors, by daisy-chaining up to 4 boards in a multi-drop configuration.
A 32-bit DLL allows easy interfacing to Windows, Linux, programming
languages, moreover a demo software example is also included.
Main Features:
Motor Control |
Full step (monophasic & biphasic), half step,
and profiling moves. The SPORT232-ST can work with bipolar and
unipolar stepper motors. |
Motor Current |
The SPORT232 has been
developed with a chopper driver in which can drive the
motor current from 50 mA to 2000 mA. The power supply for
the motor can be up to 45V. The motor winding current can
be set up via software. |
Stepping Modes |
Linear
acceleration and deceleration modes are supported. Smooth
motion and higher torque are achievable at high speed trough
the use of a special half step torque compensation technique.
Profiling movements
are supported and it can be selected via software. A 128 bytes
of internal FIFO allows to store different motion segments
when profiling move is selected. |
Digital Inputs
|
8 TTL compatible I/O lines are provided. Each
line can be configured as input/output independently via software. |
Motor Control Signals
|
The motor control signals are: Abort, Home, Limit
Switch, External Trigger, External Events, Shaft Encoder channel
A and B. |
Analog Inputs
|
The
SPORT232-ST board supports 8 analog inputs. The resolution
of the digital converter is 12 bits. Four channel has been
developed with signal conditional ready, in which the input
voltage range are: 0 to 2.5 Volts; 0 to 5 Volts , and 0 to
2.5 Volts.
The SPORT232-STI
model has a 2.5 V. Voltage reference available, and can drive
until 10 mA. This feature is very important when external
signal conditioning are used. |
Power Monitoring
|
The SPORT232-STx has a supervisor and reset generator
when the VCC voltage is less than 4.75 Volts. When the LED "VCC
ON" is ON means the voltage of VCC is 5 Volts. |
Serial Monitoring |
A green LED "TX LED" will turn ON when
a character is received. |
PROGRAMMING |
The SPORT232-STI series has
a 4Kbytes of EEPROM embedded for program storage. The RMV856-ET
kernel allows to execute directly a program stored into the
EEPROM, also the RMV856-ET controller provides the capabilities
of setting any sequence in the initialization process |
